EkoRent Oy was founded in Helsinki in March 2014, and was the first company in Finland to offer hourly-based rental of 100% electric vehicles for companies and private customers. EkoRent Africa Ltd. was founded in Nairobi Kenya in December 2017, and an all-electric taxi hailing service NopeaRide launched in August 2018. In 2022 NopeaRide had the biggest 100% Electric taxi hailing fleet in Kenya and Africa. EkoRent Oy perustettiin Helsingissä maaliskuussa 2014 ja oli ensimmäinen suomalainen yritys joka tarjosi täyssähköautojen tuntipohjaista vuokrausta yrityksille ja yksityishenkilöille.
