Avans turns stranded data center heat into local value, faster approvals and lower costs. Data centers cannot get power or permission fast enough. Avans develops and runs what sits outside their fence, so the heat goes to work next door and the site gets its grid connection sooner. An Avans Heat Hub has three parts. Avans Connect ties into the cooling at the fence, with the dry coolers kept as 100 % backup, so uptime is untouched. Heat Hub modules, one per 10 MW hall, bring year-round heat users next door: drying, greenhouses, biogas, biochar, industry and district heating, with or without a network nearby. Avans Flex, batteries and a heat store behind the sites grid meter, lets the operator meet its flexibility commitment without curtailing IT. Avans AI OS runs all three, dispatching heat and power hour by hour, metering every MWh and drafting the sites grid application and heat plan. Which users and technologies depends on the site. Avans is not tied to any technology or supplier, and one principle guides every design: earn the most from each MW. Modules are added as the campus ramps up, so capacity follows the data center instead of running ahead of it. The same approach fits an existing site. Investors own the hardware in each sites project company. The operator pays a capacity fee, not capex. A heat plan from Avans supports permitting, the grid connection and the EU data center rating, and heat plans are set to become mandatory in Finland in 2027 under the planned data center law.
