At Third Wave Automation, weve created the Shared Autonomy Platform; a system that integrates machine learning with shared autonomy. This enables autonomous reach trucks to operate with remote oversight, allowing human operators to intervene only when necessary.
With continuous improvement at the helm, this technology is designed to enhance efficiency and safety in warehouse automation (keeping operators out of harms way), providing intelligent fleet management (ArmadaFMS) and better overall performance.
The TWA Reach, our fully autonomous reach truck, can be deployed onsite within a matter of weeks and not months, thanks to flexibility within environments and no additional infrastructure requirements.

Our story started in a small shed surrounded by orchards and farms in the heart of New Zealand’s thriving ag sector. This environment enables us to test our prototypes first hand, see the problems we need to solve in real life, and get instant feedback from farmers and agriculturalists.
Our customers are across the fence. And they’ve seen a lot of innovation come and go. So they set incredibly high expectations. They know what works and what doesn’t – and won’t hesitate to tell you so. So we’ve always been driven to create solutions that are not just innovative but that perform.
From what started with Steve (ag expert) and Alistair (tech expert), we’ve built a world-class team of specialists across ag, tech, and engineering. We’re still located in the heart of New Zealand’s thriving ag sector, but now we’re sending robots all over the world.

Entrepreneurs often need strong partners in order to scale their businesses. This is particularly true for those developing novel hardware systems, exploring new business models, or growing international ventures.
Yamaha Motor Ventures & Laboratory Silicon Valley (YMVSV) exists to accelerate the efforts of teams driving disruptive change. We have the resources and backing of Yamaha Motor Company (Japan), yet the openness and agility of a startup.
Promising efforts sometimes raise venture capital. Financing these companies through strategic investment is a portion of our activity. For other ventures, strategic corporate partnerships might mean access to vehicles, technology, teams, hardware, infrastructure, or something else entirely. Whether investment, partnership, or both, we work collaboratively to create the future of industries ranging from personal transportation to industrial automation.
