Floatech, a spin-off of the IMDEA Materials Institute, is a high tech company specialized on designing and producing silicon anodes for lithium-ion batteries. We have developed a commercial competitive process for the fabrication of >75% nanostructured Si anodes without the use of solvents and polymers during processing, hence reducing costs and emissions. The method combines manufacturing scalability, sustainability and, most importantly, leads to high-performance properties in LIBs.

Stents are one of the most implanted devices in the world, and are used to restore the correct flow of blood or other fluids.
They are especially useful to prevent heart attacks or to treat its lasting symptoms, but once implanted can become blocked or damaged, which occur in almost a third of the cases. This progression occurs gradually, but symptoms appear only after the stent is already 90% occluded, which is too late to prevent worsening conditions.
Then, in most cases, clinicians need to perform an invasive procedure called angiography, which consists in inserting a catheter into the artery to directly inspect the stent. Obviously, this is a very complex and invasive procedure, where the patient needs anesthesia, lots of X-ray exposure and a 24h hospitalization recovery. Moreover, this is very expensive, as you need highly trained staff, bedding care and expensive reagents. All of this leads to a situation where clinicians cannot act upon the problem until it has already manifested, which increases the incidence of serious complications, including strokes, heart attacks or sudden death, which could be otherwise preventable.
In order to change this situation, we are developing a microwave-based technology that can read the electromagnetic signature of the stent non-invasively. Our main objective is to be able to measure and monitor any issue with in-stent restenosis, thrombosis or stent fractures. All of these characteristics translate into a product, the NIMBLE system, which will enable early treatments to prevent negative outcomes. Medication compliance c ouldbe identified and managed, symptoms could be correlated with stent function, and triggers of cardiac events could be found before it is too late. We are developing micro-wave based technologies to monitor the functional integrity of stents.

Inrobics is a digital platform based on social robotics that provides rehabilitation sessions to users who have limitations in their motor, cognitive and social capacities derived from brain damage, neurodevelopmental disorders or related pathologies.
Inrobics is positioned at the forefront of the digital age by offering a disruptive technology based on interaction with a social robot that allows an initial evaluation, monitoring and recording of results with the consequent sending of personalized reports to the clinician and the family. This digitalization makes rehabilitation a more accessible resource thanks to the possibility of its use at home.
The figure of the therapist is a key element of the model since the intervention is based on their clinical reasoning, being the profesional the one capable of obtaining the maximum performance of the principles of gamification, intensification of therapies, neuroplasticity and motor control.
The heart of Inrobics is an Artificial Intelligence that receives information from de user through the latest generation 3D sensor and determines a coherent and autonomous behavior of the robot. This Artificial Intelligence adapts to the needs and particularities of the individual at all times. The user will have the feeling that the robot learns more and more about him, making the experience unique.
The platform has a humanoid robot and an RGB-D sensor that monitors and records the patients movements. It offers the clinician a wide range of sessions based on the principles of gamification, intensification, neuroplasticity and motor control.

We build leading-edge analytic tools for planners and managers in healthcare to understand their true problems, and help putting resources and efforts where they are needed most. We go beyond statistics of the usual dashboards (tables, rows, and columns) to provide predictive power, find complex multifactor associations, and temporal evolutions to reduce undesirable events and complications.
We are a spinoff from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) at Barcelona, and have been developing our technology closely with local hospitals and government departments for the past 4 years.
Example use cases include prescription rationalization, predicting hospital readmissions and bed requirements, and analyzing therapeutic variability.
