OneReef was founded on the insight that local communities are the most effective environmental stewards when their traditional knowledge is combined with the right partnerships and resources. When our partnered communities in the Asia-Pacific region commit to protecting their coral reefs, we commit to providing the services and tools they need to enforce management of protected zones, monitor the health of their reefs, and grow local capacity toward full self-sufficient stewardship. We also support and foster community members struggling to inspire and lead their communities toward improved guardianship of their natural environment. OneReef has already created marine conservation agreements at sites supporting the protection of about 420,000 acres of reef across Micronesia in the Republic of Palau and the Federated States of Micronesia. For more than 35 years, Rainforest Trust has not wavered from its mission of preventing deforestation, preserving critical habitat and safeguarding endangered species. We have projects in rainforests, but we also protect other types of forests and even marine environments! Stopping deforestation does not just save trees. The results include clean water, oxygen production, carbon sequestration and storage, and the slowing of climate change. Saving tropical forests helps mitigate many of the critical issues we are facing today and in the near future. By becoming a part of Rainforest Trust, you become part of the solution. The IUCN SSC Asian Species Action Partnership (ASAP) is a partnership platform with the aim of averting species extinctions in Southeast Asia. This is a critical region that, without urgent conservation intervention, will lose much of its unique and rich biodiversity. ASAP increases funding, strengthens capacity, builds awareness and catalyses conservation for Critically Endangered land and freshwater vertebrate species. Convened by IUCN SSC, ASAP has grown to be a network of over 200 Partner organisations. ASAP supports organisations with small grant and training programmes, as well as through building connections, providing bespoke support and increasing visibility. The Partnership provides a platform for collective impact and collaboration to conserve species on the brink of extinction.

Freshwaters make up only 0.8% of earth’s surface, but have about 10% of all species, 33% of vertebrates and 50% of fish species. They provide half of all wild fish eaten by people and are particularly important for the very poor. Yet, they are the most threatened system on earth with 29% of all extinctions. Damaging invasive species, such as carp, have contributed to 40% of freshwater extinctions, but they can be eradicated, after which even species on the edge of extinction can recover. Yet, no organization is focused on eradicating freshwater invasives to prevent extinctions. This powerful conservation tool is only being haphazardly applied. We are launching Freshwater Life to fill this gap and save hundreds of freshwater species from extinction.
