A previous government sold the opportunity for $3.1 Billion* Today this opportunity is worth $20 Billion* So the taxpayer lost out on $17 Billion in appreciation. Additionally, the business earns $150 Million* in profits for private and absentee shareholders.
We assert that there is an alternative to privatization of public services. However there are hurdles.
We advocate for a Community Enterprise Act to overcome the hurdles and build the capacity to deliver public services on a not for-profit basis.
