Pegasus Airlines was purchased by Esas Group in January 2005, with the airline launching its scheduled flight service in November 2005 as Turkey's first Low Cost Carrier, a time during which the 'ground rules'​ of Turkish aviation had started to change. We launched the affordable and accessible means of flying to the Turkish public. Our goal in Turkey was to transform flying from a luxury into something that formed part of people’s everyday lives and to this end the number of guests we have carried so far, safely and on time. Indeed, the number of guests we have carried has grown 6-fold in 6 years and we have become the fastest growing airline in Europe in 2011 amongst Europe’s largest 25 airlines in terms of capacity according to OAG’s (Official Airline Guide) 2011 report.
