Created by Michelle Lima and Paula Proushan, Blue Bird add a stylish touch - the Brazilian je ne sais quoi - to any feet waiting to be adorned. The label was born out of a desire to create a flawless and democratic shoe. Both founders had plenty fashion and footwear in their DNA: Michelle had worked in the shoe industry in Brazil and abroad since she was 17, under renowned brands like Alexandre Birman and Forum, while Paula had made a career in the international fashion industry, working for the likes of Vera Wang. When they were introduced to each other, they decided it was time they created their own venture together. Joining their impeccable taste to years of expertise, Michelle and Paula betted on the loafer - a classic shoe that is comfortable, elegant and shows "just the right amount of feet".
Needless to say, Blue Bird loafers are a specie of their own. Michelle and Paula spent one year developing them, thinking of every imaginable detail. Every shoe is made through an artisanal process inspired by traditional Italian shoemaking, which involves a total of 32 craftsmen. They spend a full day being molded, which ensures that they conform to any feet. The inside of the shoe is entirely lined with fine leather. For the insole, the founders wanted to develop something unique and extremely comfortable – as comfortable as the bed they sleep on every night, literally! That is why she developed a partnership with a German mattress company to create a special, thicker-than-usual insole made with the same technology as its mattresses. This is why laying your feet onto a BB shoe is such a soothing experience. These are details that the eye cannot see, but that the feet can certainly feel - and be thankful for.
