Het Nederlands Kamerkoor behoort al ruim 80 jaar tot de wereldtop. Het staat vanaf het prille begin bekend om zijn avontuurlijke en vernieuwende koers: met het uitzetten van opdrachten aan grote componisten en jong talent, met de ontwikkeling van nieuwe vormen, en met spannende samenwerkingen. Het leidt tot concerten die ontroeren én prikkelen. Het Nederlands Kamerkoor wordt geroemd door tot critici in binnen- en buitenland: “Het Nederlands Kamerkoor blijkt voor de koormuziek wat het Concertgebouworkest is voor de orkestmuziek: een toonaangevend topensemble”, aldus de Volkskrant (2016). Educatie en participatie maken onlosmakelijk deel uit van de missie van het koor. Het Nederlands Kamerkoor verzorgt workshops en ‘adopteert’ koren als voorprogramma van zijn eigen concerten. In het talentontwikkelingsprogramma NKK NXT​ geven we jonge, netafgestudeerde zangers, een baan, om zich te ontwikkelen als ensemblezanger van de toekomst. Sinds 2015 is Peter Dijkstra chef-dirigent van het koor. Hij is een van de meest gevraagde koordirigenten ter wereld en staat keer op keer garant voor sprankelende uitvoeringen. Zijn voorgangers waren Hans van de Hombergh, Kerry Woodward, Uwe Gronostay, Tõnu Kaljuste, Stephen Layton en Risto Joost. Het koor werd opgericht door Felix de Nobel, die tot 1972 de eerste chef-dirigent was. Sinds mei 2015 is het Nederlands Kamerkoor gevestigd in Utrecht.
