Read more below: Currently, there are 1M doctors for the 330M people in the U.S., but only 120k veterinarians for the 200M cats and dogs in the country. The Covid-19 pandemic amplified the problems caused by the labor shortage, as pet ownership increased dramatically. As a result, it can take weeks to book in-person vet appointments in some cities, urgent care centers are overwhelmed by demand and cost of care has risen for pet owners - it’s clear something has to change. At Otis, were working with vets and vet techs to create a new model of care delivery that both 1) alleviates the burden on the entire pet health ecosystem and 2) is financially sustainable.

By providing honest guidance and better ingredients, we aim to help people feel empowered to make the right choices for their health. Since our launch in 2016, we have raised capital from top investors including Goldman Sachs Investment Partners, Goodwater Capital, Tusk Ventures, RRE Capital, Juxtapose, and Bayer. In late 2020, Bayer secured additional investment in Care/of giving it majority ownership. By joining forces with Bayer, we are able to expand our ability to connect directly with new and existing customers and elevate our unwavering commitment to science-backed guidance, quality ingredients, and sustainable practices.
