LORC (Lindø Offshore Renewables Center) is the leading test center for making renewable energy viable offshore, with state-of-the-art test and infrastructure facilities. LORC´s testing activities includes e.g. Nacelle Function Test and Highly Accelerated Life-time Testing (HALT) in the 10 MW regime, Mechanical Testing at Strong Floor and Climate Testing including Salt Spray. LORC is a non-profit and independent commercial foundation, founded in 2009 by the major players in the offshore renewables sector. The aim is to improve product reliability and consequently lower the Cost of Energy extracted from green offshore sources. Lindø Nacelle Testing is for power outputs of up to 10 MW. The Nacelle Testing Center has two test-docks: The Function Tester of LORC performs testing of the influence of the internal and external electrical dynamics on the complete nacelle, including the hub. Furthermore, the Function Tester is a test facility where international grid codes can be tested in combination with rapidly changing wind speed conditions, which characterize offshore locations. The other nacelle test-dock offers HALT, Highly Accelerated Lifetime Testing. It enables customers to verify the expected quality level of the nacelle, as 20-25 years operation can be simulated in less than half a year. All of the Lindø Nacelle Testing Center has crane coverage up to 1000 tonnes, for the largest nacelles to be tested. Lindø Component & Structure Testing focuses on full-scale and Mechanical Testing at a Strong Floor in the MN regime and Climate Testing in one of the world largest climate chambers, where humidity and temperature can be controlled, as well as salt spray added to simulate real offshore conditions. Lindø Welding Technology offers state-of-the-art welding services and consultancy. LORC Welding Technology is equipped with one of the world’s most powerful laser systems capable of delivering up to 32 kW of laser power for welding applications. Lindø Component & Structure Testing and Welding Technology are constantly developed in close cooperation with our industrial partner, Force Technology.
