Welcome to the Operation Smile Norway LinkedIn Page. We are a newly registered NGO based in Oslo and we welcome you to follow us and engage with our journey. Operation Smile is a global nonprofit organization bridging the Health Equity gap. A cleft is a gap in the mouth that didnt close during the early stages of pregnancy, one of the most common craniofacial differences worldwide. Without intervention, affected children battle a lifetime of difficulties with eating, speaking, breathing and mental health. Operation Smile gives children in middle and low-income countries, the chance to grow up without life-threatening health problems and social stigma. Our programs provide access to essential surgeries and healthcare, starting with cleft surgery and comprehensive care. We provide medical expertise, training, research and care through our dedicated staff, medical and student volunteers around the world. Working alongside local governments, nonprofits and health systems, we are supported by our generous donors and corporate partners. Our vision includes creating opportunities for women in medicine, investing significantly in research, innovation, surgical education and youth empowerment. We are also exploring artificial intelligence with a facial modelling algorithm to double the number of surgeries we can provide. Operation Smile Norway works to support children, young adults and adults born with cleft conditions in: DRC, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania and Palestine. We are proud that Norway is the newest partner country to join the Operation Smile team.
