Pyke design, develop and commercialize sunglasses for children. "Pyke, because we want him to see the world as long as possible through his kid's eyes"​. From 0 to 3 years of age, children are discovering their world. They experience their first adventures with their heads in the clouds. These are life’s magical years but care must be taken, especially when these adventures take place in the sun. In fact, children are the most vulnerable to UV attack by sunlight. The eyes reach maturity only at the age of 12 and it is vital to protect this asset so essential for a life filled with many more adventures. According to WHO estimates, each year 12 to 15 million people fall victim to cataracts and lose their sight. 20% of cataracts are caused or accelerated by exposure to sunlight. We often forget that our eyes are the only organs made up of transparent tissue; the sun’s ray can, therefore pass through them and potentially attack other, more vulnerable tissues. A protective shield is needed. As the vacation season and sunny days are just around the corner, we are proud to present BabyPyke, a brand new model of sunglasses for babies and toddlers. After months of research and development, Pyke, a start-up based in Charleroi, Belgium, has developed a Made in Belgium model of sunglasses especially designed to suit the morphological characteristics of children between the ages of 0 and 3: BabyPyke
