To av landets fremste aktører på hvert sitt felt, oppdrettsselskapet SalMar og industriselskapet Aker, har sammen etablert SalMar Aker Ocean. Dette selskapet skal drive fiskeoppdrett i værharde eksponerte områder og langt til havs og viderefører SalMars mangeårige satsing på dette feltet. SalMar og Aker har store planer for SalMar Aker Ocean. Målet er at selskapet innen utgangen av 2030 skal produsere 150 000 tonn laks årlig under fantastiske forhold og på laksens betingelser. Selskapet vil med det være en av verdens største lakseprodusenter. Storsatsingen er blant annet avhengig av at myndighetene i Norge legger til rette for det, men vi sitter ikke stille og venter. Vi har allerede gjennomført to vellykkede produksjonssykluser med havmerden Ocean Farm 1 og har konkrete planer om å utvide virksomheten med ytterligere to anlegg. Videreutviklingen av teknologien vil blant annet skje med kompetanse og erfaring fra Aker Solutions som er et av verdens fremste ingeniørmiljøer.

Fiskå Mølle er landets største private leverandør av kraftfôr og driftsmiddel til landbruket. Vi har ti produksjonsanlegg for kraftfôr i ulike deler av landet, og en samlet omsetning på 2,7 milliarder kroner. Seafood Business for Ocean Stewardship (SeaBOS) is a unique collaboration between scientists and seafood companies across the wild capture, aquaculture and feed production sectors, leading a global transformation towards sustainable seafood production, and improving ocean health. The collaboration has been coordinated by the Stockholm Resilience Centre at Stockholm University with key scientific partners from the Beijer Institute of Ecological Economics at the Royal Swedish Academy of Science, the University of Lancaster, and the Stanford Center for Ocean Solutions. The scientific work is independently funded by the Walton Family Foundation, the Moore Foundation, and the Packard Foundation. Together, SeaBOS companies represent over 10% of the world’s seafood production and comprise over 600 subsidiary companies.
