After setting a Guinness World Record with Equal Playing Field Initiative for the highest altitude soccer game to highlight gender inequality in sport, co-founder of Ida Sports Laura Youngson realised this amazing group of women from all over the world had a common problem: soccer cleats were extremely uncomfortable. Along with co-founder Ben Sandhu, Ida sports spent the next two years working with podiatrists, physical therapists, coaches and over 800 female players to develop a soccer cleat designed specifically for females. The custom outsoles of their footwear caters to the small differences that exist between men’s and women’s feet and aims to eliminate preventable pain points such as blisters, black toes, and pinching from too narrow of a fit. This is about more than a soccer cleat though. Ida Sports is dedicated to prioritizing athletes who have traditionally been an afterthought and empowering these women and girls to play the sports they love without equipment holding them back.
