Electron's vision is to unleash renewable abundance by connecting millions of distributed energy resources to thousands of coordinated markets.
We've made it our mission to help network utilities and municipal suppliers adopt and scale flexibility markets to manage grid congestion, improve connection rates, and lower bills.
To do this, we've created a world-leading, trading SaaS platform to launch, operate and coordinate multiple markets for flexibility and distributed energy.
--------------------------------
Diving into the detail: What's our story?
Electron was founded on the belief that energy systems of the future would need digitally optimised marketplaces rather than large scale new generation capacity, in order to deliver Net Zero in a cost efficient and resilient way.
By combining the founders’ knowledge of energy markets and experience in building digital trading platforms, Electron set out to meet this requirement, working collaboratively with existing and emerging market participants to create the first digital energy marketplace.
Since establishment in 2015, Electron has engaged in eight network optimisation projects in four countries, involving partnerships with 20 major energy industry players including National Grid ESO, EDF Energy, Shell and London Hydro.
Based on these successful projects, the ElectronConnect platform has been selected to support marketplaces for Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, National Grid ESO in the UK and London Hydro in Canada.
Electron’s technology is currently deployed in a first-of-its-kind, real-time, local marketplace in Orkney, with two further markets under development.

Connected Energy is a world leader in battery energy storage. Our business combines low-carbon mobility, energy transition, and the circular economy. Our energy storage technology is being used by businesses across Europe to store electricity – either from renewable generation such as PV and wind or from the grid – to use it when they need it most.
Were one of only a few companies worldwide with the proven technology to reuse end-of-life electric vehicle batteries and bring them back to life as energy storage. In doing so, we have created a solution that solves many of the power challenges businesses face. Our product helps customers take control of the energy available to them, make the most of solar or wind generation, optimise a site’s energy use by managing demand and overcoming capacity constraints.
We’re on a mission to help the world embrace sustainable energy solutions. As the world strives for a low-carbon future, our systems are the true bridge to a clean energy future. By maximising EV batteries as an energy store, we are doing things differently to make a huge, positive impact on the planet.

Piclo’s mission is to decarbonise the grid. We develop software solutions that make our energy networks smarter, flexible and more sustainable. Piclo Max, our market access platform, enables flex sellers (such as EV and battery owners) to access all electricity markets from one place. Piclo Flex, our flexibility services marketplace, enables flex buyers (system operators) to source flexible electricity from flex sellers during times of high demand or low supply.
To date, Piclo has over 300,000 registered flexible assets representing 22 GW of registered flex capacity, with flexibility contracts awarded totalling £74m and 2.6 GW+ of flexible capacity procured.
Piclo currently operates in six global markets: in the UK, supporting all six Distribution System Operators (UK Power Networks, SP Energy Networks, Electricity North West, Northern Powergrid, Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks and National Grid Electricity Distribution); and the Transmission System Operator (TSO) (the ESO); in Ireland (ESB Networks), Italy (E-Distribuzione), Portugal (E-REDES)); in Australia (CitiPower, Powercor); and in the United States in New York State (National Grid) and Connecticut (United Illuminating). Aside from its leading position in the UK, Piclo has a growing presence in Europe, USA and the Asia-Pacific.

At Powervault, we are on a mission to pioneer a sustainable energy future. We provide the most intelligent, economic and sustainable energy storage systems for homes and businesses. Our products store solar energy and affordable electricity from the grid, helping save you money while you help protect the environment. We design and manufacture Powervault here in the UK.
In its initial market application the product stores ‘free’ electricity generated by solar panels during the day, then releases the stored energy during the evening when household demand peaks, delivering a 50% reduction on electricity bills. The initial addressable UK market of 1m solar PV owners is about to expand rapidly as regulation drives the roll out of smart meters enabling ‘smart tariffs’. This will allow any of the 26m UK homes to benefit from storing electricity when it is cheap to use at expensive ‘peak’ times.

Abundance is a leading direct investment platform giving people control over their money. People invest from £5 in companies and projects that help them make good money.
Since Abundance launched in July 2012 it has raised more than £90m from individual investors to fund companies and projects across the green economy and housing sectors.
With a choice of projects, investors know where their money is going and how it is working for them. They receive regular capital repayments and investment returns, along with updates on their investments. At the same time, the UK benefits from having more clean energy, support for innovative businesses, and new thinking around some of our biggest challenges.
As with any investment product there are risks. Part or all of your original invested capital may be at risk and any return on your investment depends on the success of the project invested in. You should be prepared to hold Abundance investments for their full term and investments may not be readily realisable (and their value can rise or fall). Specific risks will apply in relation to each product. Consider all risks before investing.

There is a growing need for pediatric home care which is currently not being met. Many children are spending time in hospitals and institutional care unnecessarily while home care is 10 times less expensive, more effective, and convenient. The pediatric home care market has not kept pace with this growing demand and is in need of thousands more nurses.
To address the growing demand for pediatric home care, SwiftShift is reimagining pediatric home care delivery by creating the first caregiver-managed pediatric home care service. Our long-term mission is to increase the number of pediatric nurses who choose to work in this field so that every child can access reliable home care.
Our unique offering creates more meaningful relationships between patients, families, and caregivers. We’ve replaced office-based case managers with nurse care teams and empowered them to manage the safe transition from the hospital to long-term home-based care. These self-managed teams choose their patients and control their schedules, creating a greater sense of ownership over their care management.
We use an AI-based home care management platform to help our care teams focus on delivering care. No more manuals, no more paper! By providing all the relevant data in an easy-to-access interface, caregivers can make better decisions for the well-being of their patients.
Most importantly, at SwiftShift we know the best patient outcomes start and end with the best nursing experience. That’s why we are committed to our caregivers’ professional development by providing 24/7 training and support services.
