Individuell und einzigartig: so präsentiert sich die Universität Hohenheim als stark spezialisierte und älteste Universität Stuttgarts. Gegründet 1818 nach verheerenden Hungersnöten fühlt sich die Universität Hohenheim neben intensiver Grundlagenforschung immer auch der Tradition verpflichtet, innovative Lösungen für drängende gesellschaftliche Probleme zu entwickeln. Anders als andere Universitäten besitzt die Universität Hohenheim dazu einen bundesweit einmaligen Fächerkanon in den Fakultäten Agrarwissenschaften, Naturwissenschaften und Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaften. Heute verfügt die Universität über ein einzigartiges Profil, ein gutes, internationales Netzwerk und herausragende Persönlichkeiten. Seit ihrer Neugründung im Jahr 1994 hat sich die Universität Erfurt mit einem expliziten kultur- und gesellschaftswissenschaftlichem Profil in der nationalen und internationalen Hochschullandschaft fest etabliert. Mit ihren Schwerpunkten in den Bereichen Religion, Geistes- und Kulturwissenschaften, Gesellschaft und Lehrerbildung ist sie eine zentral gelegene Bildungs- und Forschungsstätte mit circa 6.000 Studierenden, rund 100 Professuren sowie ca. 400 wissenschaftlichen Beschäftigten und 300 Beschäftigten in der Verwaltung. Die als „familiengerecht“ zertifizierte Universität Erfurt setzte als Reformuniversität mit ihrem attraktiven und zum Teil ungewöhnlichen Lehr- und Forschungsprofil von Anfang an auf Bachelor- und Master-Studiengänge sowie auf Interdisziplinarität. Sie setzt sich mit den großen gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen unserer Zeit auseinander und bekennt sich zur internationalen wissenschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit im Hinblick auf eine globale Teilhabe an Wissen und Wissenschaft. Sie verfügt zudem über zwei Professional Schools nach amerikanischen Vorbild: die Willy Brandt School of Public Policy und die Erfurt School of Education, die für die Koordination der bundesweit beispielgebenden Lehrerausbildung zuständig ist.
