As the challenges facing us as a society become increasingly complex, innovation alone is not enough; you need a strong innovation partner who can provide comprehensive support and a broad range of perspectives. This is where RISE comes in. RISE is a unique mobilisation of resources to increase the pace of innovation in our society. By gathering a number of research institutes and over a hundred test beds and demonstration environments under the umbrella of a single innovation partner, we create improved conditions for society’s problem solvers. We gather around challenges and organise ourselves accordingly. Together, specialists in disparate fields innovate and resolve tough problems. Depending on the nature of the challenge and our assignment, we take on a variety of roles in the innovation system, and develop new ones as and when required. We are owned by the Swedish State and work in collaboration with and on behalf of the private and public sectors and academia. Together, we develop services, products, technologies, processes and materials that contribute to a sustainable future and a competitive Swedish business community.

SEEL Swedish Electric Transport Laboratory is a test center for research and development in the field of electromobility, and is owned and run by Chalmers and RISE as a joint venture. SEEL will establish three facilities - in Gothenburg, Nykvarn and Borås. The SEEL facilities will be operational in the spring of 2023. The aim is to consolidate efficient knowledge development and improve the conditions for collaboration in the field of electrified transport in Europe. Actors in the automotive, aerospace and maritime sectors, together with companies developing technology in relevant areas, will gain the possibility to test prototypes and products at independent test facilities with state-of-the-art equipment. The business actors will also gain a common platform on which to meet, and will jointly benefit from the knowledge development and technology shift currently taking place. Researchers from academia and institutes will at the same time gain access to advanced research infrastructure in the field of electromobility. In addition, SEEL works together with companies from Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy and Poland in an important project of common European interest for batteries, IPCEI Batteries.
