In the summer of 2021, the Danish Ministry of Defense published a broad political agreement that the Danish navy must be strengthened with a new multifunctional patrol ship type. While the Navys current patrol ships carry out patrolling and monitoring of Danish waters and participate in rescue missions (SAR), the patrol ships of the future must be able to carry out more complex defense and environmental tasks.
The new ship type is being developed to handle a wide range of complex military and civilian tasks and will future-proof the Navys ability to defend and secure Danish waters. Danske Patruljeskibe K/S is a consortium formed by OMT Naval ApS, Terma and PensionDanmark.
The purpose of the consortium is to offer itself as a total supplier for the Danish Navys future multifunctional patrol ships. Through Danske Patruljeskibe, OMTs shipbuilding expertise and Termas military skills are combined, while PensionDanmark provides the financial security.
As a total supplier, Danske Patruljeskibe will shoulder the responsibility for designing an innovative and modular ship design, building the ships and securing the Navys investment through careful maintenance of the new patrol ships.

Everchanging demands across the maritime domain means that ships must become more flexible if they are to keep pace with evolving requirements. Ships that take decades to design and build quickly become obsolete within the modern operating environment.
As a result, modularity must become a central concept in future ship design. And to support this, standardised systems have been created. Not only does this swift recalibration increase efficiency within national navies but a standardised, shared systems allows naval powers within military alliances greater availability of warships to meet a range of global operations.
CUBEDIN provides flexibility with a smart, cost-effective solution to support modern modular ship design.
CUBEDIN was established in 2022 as a pioneering new venture in ship design and modular technology. It was formed between OMT, a premium maritime consulting firm with a strong heritage in containership and frigate design, and Systematic which develops world-leading software solutions across the defence, healthcare and renewables industries. This combination provides a formidable offering to the maritime industry where shipbuilding and design is faster, more cost-effective and provides adaptable, multi-role vessels.
