Intreprinderea de Medicamente și Coloranți Sintofarm a fost constituită in anul 1973 pe profilul Fabricii Chimice SINTOFARM, care a luat ființă la 1 octombrie 1969 prin comasarea a patru întreprinderi: Fabrica de Medicamente Sintofarm, Uzina Chimică Getica, Fabrica Reactivul și Fabrica Sin, sub denumirea de Fabrica Chimică Sintofarm. Din 1999, S.C. SINTOFARM S.A. este societate cu capital majoritar privat. Un prim pas pentru o mai bună calitate a produselor, l-a constituit implementarea sistemului de management al calității și obținerea certificatului ISO 9001 în anul 2000. Începând din anul 2007 și până în prezent, fabrica a fost recertificată GMP pe toate cele trei fluxuri de fabricație, fără să existe vreo întrerupere între recertificări.
