Open Music is a non-profit initiative of the Berklee Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship (BerkleeICE) as well as a number of leading academic institutions, music and media industry organizations, creators, technologists, entrepreneurs, and policy experts who love and value music. The aim is to create an open protocol for uniform identification of music creators and rights holders across the industry. Open Music believes new technologies can be applied to radically simplify the way music rights owners are identified and compensated, resulting in sustainable business models for artists, entrepreneurs, and music businesses alike. Over 190 companies have joined Open Music including Universal Music, Sony, Warner Music, YouTube, Spotify, Pandora, Soundcloud, SiriusXM, Sound Exchange, Alibaba, Harry Fox, DDEX, Netflix, Viacom, Intel, Red Bull Media House, PROs like GEMA, SACEM, SOCAN, SESAC, many publishers and many, many others.

Being able to think and act like an entrepreneur is ever more critical in today's fast changing media and creative industry environments. Developing the entrepreneurial mindset among our students, faculty, and alumni is at the heart of the mission of BerkleeICE. BerkleeICE Goals: - Prepare Berklee graduates to approach their careers entrepreneurially in the new music business. - Foster the creation of new products, services, and businesses driving the changes in the creative industries of tomorrow. - Inspire the advancement of disruptive ideas through the application of musical creativity and cross-discipline collaboration.

LaunchX gives students the skills and mindset to start real companies. Our signature summer program prepares high school students for real world success through entrepreneurship. We bring ambitious young entrepreneurs together from around the globe to build a startup on a team of peer founders. Students spend the intense weeks of the program working with industry experts and learning to solve problems in meaningful and viable ways.
