At Amatera, we are accelerating the natural evolution of plants to create the coffee and perennial crop varieties of tomorrow. We started first with coffee, because while we drink a trillion cups of coffee every year, number expected to triple by 2050, rising temperatures will reduce, in the meantime, the area suitable for growing coffee by up to 50%. It is urgent to make coffee varieties more sustainable and climate resistant to fill that massive demand.

We partner with scientists, engineers and operators to create companies that solve hard climate problems. Since 2021, we have created 7 highly differentiated companies across opportunity areas like ammonia, methanol, direct air capture, geologic hydrogen, concrete materials and weather control. 100% of our earliest companies have been successful in raising follow-on funding. And we have many more in the pipeline!
