The City University of New York Graduate School of Public Health & Health Policy (CUNY SPH) sustains a healthier New York City through education, research, and service. We strive for equitable, efficient, evidence-based solutions to pressing health problems facing both urban populations locally and around the world. The school utilizes the resources of the nation’s largest and most diverse urban university, CUNY, and of New York City, a global city that not only faces many of the world’s most serious health problems, but also serves as a cradle of public health innovation. MDCalc is entering its 20th year. What began as a project born of necessity–to ease cognitive overload in real-time medicine–has become one of the most widely used and trusted Clinical Decision Support platforms in the world. Today, more than 80% of U.S. clinicians, and millions globally, use MDCalc to guide better care decisions at the bedside. With nearly 900 rigorously vetted evidence-based guidelines, scoring systems, medical calculators, and risk assessments across 50+ specialty areas, MDCalc is built to meet the demands of real-world care, elevating and reinforcing clinical judgment. As we enter our third decade, our goal remains simple: to bring clarity to clinical complexity. Every tool is designed to reinforce–not replace–clinical judgment. Every update reflects our core values: safety, simplicity, and trust. As medicine grows more complex, our mission is more important than ever. We’re proud to support clinicians—every shift, every decision, every patient. MDCalc was founded in 2005 by physician leaders Graham Walker, MD, and Joseph Habboushe, MD, who continue to oversee a growing team of physician experts responsible for creating and curating MDCalc’s award-winning clinical tools—used in the support of over one billion patient encounters to date.
