Second Wind Fund of Boulder County (SWFBC) began its mission as an affiliate of the Second Wind Fund Inc. in September 2009 through the support of three Boulder community partners: The Hope Coalition, Colie's Closet, and The Parent Engagement Network. Second Wind Fund was founded as a community response to the loss of another non-profit (Compass House) that focused on direct counseling of high risk youth closed its doors. SWFBC was launched with seed money provided by the Second Wind Fund Inc. and the Hope Coalition of Boulder. We began as an all volunteer organization with community members from organizations that focus in the area of mental health related to depression and suicide. As we grew, we were able to begin to support a part time Executive Director and Bookkeeper. Since April of 2009 we have been able to provide a safety net of direct counseling services to over 210 youth in the community that do not have the financial resources for treatment dealing with possible suicide. Second Wind Fund of Boulder County provides its services in Boulder County and parts of Weld County.
