The HDMI Forum was formed to foster broader industry participation in the development of the next generation of the HDMI Specification and to support an ecosystem of interoperable HDMI-enabled products. The HDMI Specification combines uncompressed high-definition video, multi-channel audio, and data in a single digital interface to provide crystal-clear digital quality over a single cable. The organization brings together the world’s leading manufacturers of consumer electronics, personal computers, mobile devices, cables and components.

HDMI Licensing Administrator, Inc. (HDMI LA) is the only organization that licenses the HDMI specifications and it is the primary source of information on HDMI technology, HDMI specifications and features; and manages authorized cable compliance programs. HDMI LA is the agent appointed by the HDMI Forum to license Version 2.1 of the HDMI Specification and is also the agent appointed by the HDMI Founders to license the 1.4b HDMI Specification. HDMI LA is tasked with enforcing compliance to the HDMI specifications and the HDMI adopted trademarks and logos. It is also responsible for promoting specification features. With misinformation spread about HDMI features, testing and certification, HDMI LA is the exclusive source for factual information.
