West Coast Angel Network (WeCAN) is a purpose-driven network of Angel investors driving forward diversity representation on the cap table. We know inclusion and diversity matters, and yet diversity is still not represented equitably in most positions of influence (see our website for some sobering metrics). Applying an investor-led model, members work together to learn the investment process using hands-on experience while expanding our network of like-minded professionals. Through learning the ins and outs of the investment continuum, members are empowered to confidently move beyond the immediate network, applying the concepts weve learned to diversified financial arenas. We strive to create an inclusive, supportive and fun learning environment. As a social venture, WeCANs leadership team takes no management fees or carry: like all members, were here to learn, have fun, expand our networks and return a profit on our investments.

Our Mission Spark seeks to advance gender equality by engaging the next generation in accessible forms of philanthropy. Our Strategy Community Building: Through its unique participatory membership, Spark cultivates a community of young professionals who are actively engaged in global women’s issues. Education: Spark educates its community on issues that impact women and girls through educational forums, volunteer opportunities, and international delegation trips. Advocacy: Spark engages our community to support policy initiatives which benefit women and girls both locally and globally. Grant-Making: Spark harnesses the philanthropic spirit of its community to raise money for and give capacity-building grants to grassroots women’s organizations that create positive social change in their communities.
