The AISTS (International Academy of Sport Science and Technology), one of the world’s premier Sport Management education and research academies, is committed to professionalising sports management through the three core activity areas of education services, applied research (project services) and providing an engaging platform for industry connections.
Founded as a not-for-profit foundation in 2000, AISTS Founders: the International Olympic Committee, the EPFL, the University of Lausanne, the University of Geneva, IMD Business School, Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne, the City of Lausanne and the Canton of Vaud, all recognise the importance of meeting the evolving knowledge needs of today’s sports managers.
Through it’s education services, the AISTS prepares tomorrow’s sports administrators through its Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Sport Management and Technology, provides professional training to international sport organisations, and supports local organising committees in knowledge acquisition.
The MAS in Sport Management is a unique international postgraduate programme, endorsed by the International Olympic Committee, and located in Lausanne, Switzerland. The programme provides a holistic approach to sport management and includes courses given by a blend of academics and industry professionals covering 5 disciplines: Management, Law, Technology, Sociology and Medicine. The programme has a strong practical component in the form of a group project where participants work on a real project for a real client, an academic research paper and work experience in the form of an internship, project or job. According to the Bologna Education System, MAS programmes target meeting the needs of working professionals and as such fall in the category of continuing education or professional development.
