Texas HALO Fund is an investment company specializing in diverse, early stage businesses with promising growth prospects and exceptional management teams. Our investment approach identifies compelling businesses from multiple sources without regard to industry or geographic location. Quite simply, we seek the best opportunities, locally, regionally and nationally, in order to generate the highest returns for our investors with the lowest possible risk. Each fund invests in multiple companies in a variety of industries in order to construct a diversified portfolio. Our process involves rigorous due diligence and extensive interaction with management prior to making a capital commitment and then active on-going oversight, often through board positions or board observation rights. For more than a decade, the North Texas Angel Network (NTAN) has connected early stage companies with angel investors to help private investors make private deals with private companies. Over its 10-year history, NTAN members have invested in excess of $10 million into startup organizations. Notable investments, totaling more than $1 million each from NTAN members, include Ikonopedia, Natural Dental Implants, Tella Firma, and Vital Arts & Science. In 2018, angel investments were made into Natural Dental Implants, Haxiot, Stocked Robotics, teleCalm, and TeVido, among others. Annually the organization reviews several hundred business plans and presents approximately 50 investment opportunities for hands-on analysis, due diligence and investment consideration to its membership of more than 60 individual, accredited investors. The non-profit, member-led organization reviews investment opportunities across industries, including medical device and service companies, software and hardware technology, and construction innovation, among others. Start100 is part angel fund, part accelerator, and part start-up coach for potential high-growth product entrepreneurs that are strong fits for crowdfunding. The Partners formed Momentum largely as a means to invest their own capital. The Partners’ collective net worth, however, was insufficient to: (1) allow them to diversify their investments beyond three or four transactions and (2) allow them to afford the quality staff and expenses necessary for long term professional private equity investing. Therefore, the Fund was created to diversify their own investing and designed to share the actual cost of investing among the other Investors in the Fund. The terms of the Fund allow Momentum to attract and maintain a high quality staff, but prevent the Partners from accumulating profits from fees. This is a core belief of the Partners… a belief that financial reward for the managers should come from successful investments and not from successful fundraising.
