EOHHS seeks to promote the health, resilience, and independence of the nearly one in every three residents of the Commonwealth we serve. The Pell Center for International Relations and Public Policy at Salve Regina is a multidisciplinary research center focused at the intersection of politics, policies and ideas. Dedicated to honoring Sen. Claiborne Pell’s legacy, the Pell Center promotes American engagement in the world, effective government at home and civic participation by all Americans. Our programs are designed to generate new ideas, to expand public understanding of important issues and, ultimately, to help the public and its leaders make better decisions. Working with students and faculty, we don’t just study the world, we try to change it. The Pell Center is animated by Sen. Claiborne Pell’s belief that politics is about translating ideas into action to help people. We work to supplement the education available to Salve Regina students by fostering civic participation to make the world a better place.

The Nature Generation (NatGen) is a 501(c)(3) environmental nonprofit that inspires and empowers youth to make a difference. We reach our nation’s youth through innovative environmental stewardship programs in literature, science and the arts. TEACH GREEN Chapman DeMary Trail - The student designed and maintained Chapman DeMary Trail is an outdoor classroom where students learn about and develop an appreciation for the nature that surrounds them—it also serves as a nature park for residents and visitors. E3 Online Environmental Games - Making learning about the environment fun! Education on Energy and the Environment provides educators with engaging quiz show format games designed to increase environmental awareness among students of all ages.! Field It - Through real-life experiences in the field, students become more aware, more passionate and more interested in environmental issues. We reach youth in schools by supporting field trips, outdoor classroom installations and by providing classroom equipment and environmental experts for class lectures. READ GREEN Through our Read Green programs, we work to promote children and young adult books that convey the message of environmental stewardship and then get them into the hands of children. Our Green Earth Book Award is given to authors who have a passion for the environment and use the power of story to teach children about our natural environment and the responsibility we all have to protect it.
