Mustard Seed actively looks for, invests in and supports young social business startups with the potential to generate commercial returns, alongside significant and sustainable positive outcomes in the areas of: • environmental sustainability • education • family and community • health • economic inclusion The support is aimed at helping to grow businesses that fill gaps currently unaddressed by government and industry, and enable young startups to turn into world-class businesses. We call this approach ‘lock-step.’ As an early-stage investor, we take the long view. Mustard Seed’s Member Network, Venture Fund, and events at many of the world’s leading universities combine for a new and robust approach to making sure the best ventures get off the ground and soar. __________________________________________________________________________________ First classmates then colleagues, Mustard Seed founders Alex Pitt and Henry Wigan first met at the London School of Economics before working together at Goldman Sachs in the UK, USA and Middle East. Noting a rising appetite for entrepreneurship among talented graduates keen to pursue socially and environmentally impactful businesses but a critical lack of seed capital to match, the duo co-founded Mustard Seed in 2014 to bridge the gap. The aim of Mustard Seed is to enable social enterprise and empower entrepreneurs who want to push traditional boundaries in business.
