Sensmet has simplified optical emission spectroscopy and brings the ICP-OES performance next to the process - online and 100% automated. Today, Sensmet's µDOES is the only existing low maintenance analytical technology capable of real-time multi-metal concentration measurements in industrial liquid processes.
µDOES (Micro-discharge Optical Emission Spectroscopy) is a superior online measurement technology to quantify lithium and other key battery metals in hydrometallurgical processes! Typical measurements include Li, Mn, Co, Ni, K, Mg, Na, Ca, Zn, Al, Fe.
The µDOES is based on optical emission spectroscopy; a spark (=micro-plasma) is generated directly inside the aqueous sample. During a millisecond-long plasma discharge (= spark), the sample solution gets flash-heated to a high 10,000°C temperature: molecular species in the water get dissociated into atoms, followed by excitation of the atoms to their higher electronic states. Atoms release their excess energy by emitting optical light upon returning to their ground state. Analysis of the atomic emission spectrum enables qualitative and quantitative analysis of metals."
