ERSAR is the Portuguese authority for Water and Waste regulation, including the regulation of drinking water quality. ERSARs aim is that operators of water and waste services deliver quality services at affordable prices. ERSAR is responsible for developing an integrated regulatory approach based on two separate yet complimentary levels: - Structural regulation, for improving the organization, legislation, capacity building and the disclosure of information of the water and waste sectors. - Behavioural regulation of the utilities, through legal and contractual regulation, economic regulation, quality of service regulation, drinking water quality regulation and the regulation of the operators interface with consumers.

Valorsul é a empresa responsável pelo tratamento e valorização de cerca de 900 mil toneladas de resíduos urbanos produzidos por ano em 19 municípios das regiões de Lisboa (Norte) e Oeste de Portugal. Valorsul is the company responsible for the treatment and recovery of about 900 thousand tons of municipal waste produced per year in 19 municipalities of Lisbon and in the western region of Portugal. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A área de intervenção representa menos de 4% da área do país, mas trata e valoriza 20% de todos os resíduos urbanos produzidos em Portugal. Esta grande quantidade de resíduos é tratada e valorizada através de um moderno Sistema de Gestão Integrada, apropriado à composição dos resíduos urbanos produzidos.
