Strand was founded by biological engineers working together at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Building on the idea of creating smart therapies capable of making sophisticated decisions, they sought to apply this concept to the emerging field of mRNA therapeutics. This area was previously untapped by traditional synthetic biology, leading us to build our very own mRNA programming language, creating the world’s first platform for mRNA smart therapies.
Strand’s mRNA programming technology promises to make mRNA therapies safer and more effective by programming the location, timing, and intensity of therapeutic protein expression inside a patient’s body via mRNA-encoded logic circuits. These circuits have the ability to implement cell-type specific expressions by sensing and classifying the unique mRNA expression signatures of cells and control the dosage of protein expression through responses to exogenously administered small molecules.

Ultima Genomics is unleashing the power of genomics at scale. Our mission is to continuously drive the scale of genomic information to enable unprecedented advances in biology and improvements in human health. With humanity on the cusp of a biological revolution, there is a virtually endless need for more genomic information to address biology’s complexity and dynamic change—and a further need to challenge conventional next-generation sequencing technologies. Ultima’s revolutionary new sequencing architecture drives down the costs of sequencing to help overcome the tradeoffs that scientists and clinicians are forced to make between the breadth, depth, and frequency with which they use genomic information. The new sequencing architecture was designed to scale far beyond conventional sequencing technologies, lower the cost of genomic information and catalyze the next phase of genomics in the 21st century.

OQO, the industry pioneer in ultra-mobile personal computing, was founded in 2000 by Jory Bell and Jonathan Betts-LaCroix, together with Andrew Popell, Michael Prichard, Nick Merz, and Robert Ford, who set out to shrink a Windows XP personal computer into a pocketable device. Their vision was to transform personal computing in the same way mobile phones revolutionized telecommunications.
San Francisco-based OQO demonstrated its initial proof of concept at WinHEC 2002, signaling a new era in ultra-mobile personal computing. OQO unveiled its first commercial product, the OQO model 01, at the 2004 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) where it won awards including TechTV's "Best of Show" in the mobile computing and wireless category. Its successor, the model 01+, was certified by the Guinness World Records, as the world’s smallest full powered, full featured personal computer ever developed.
Just recently, OQO announced the new model 2+ with Intel® Atom™ processor, the world’s first PC OLED display, and worldwide 3G capability. Based on the 1.86GHz Intel Atom processor and 2GB RAM, the OQO model 2+ offers performance up to twice as fast as previous devices and includes an embedded touchscreen for easier input. For mobile professionals who need to work on the go, the model 2+ features Qualcomm’s Gobi™ global mobile Internet solution, which supports both of the world’s leading 3G cellular standards.
Fundamental to OQO's philosophy is an integrated product development process that focuses on functionality, usability, and design aesthetics. Experts in engineering, sales and marketing, and operations work together from conception through production to rapidly advance the state-of-the-art in PC architecture to meet the professional and personal computing requirements of the mobile enterprise.
