SRE is een niet op winst gerichte organisatie met als doel het organiseren van evenementen in en voor de stad Rotterdam. Naast het evenement op Koninginnedag is SRE bijvoorbeeld ook al jaren verantwoordelijk voor de succesvolle verloop van de intocht van Sint Nicolaas in Rotterdam. SRE bestaat uit een jaarlijks wisselend bestuur van 5 enthousiaste studenten die zich een jaar lang willen inzetten voor de stad Rotterdam. Op deze manier willen zij een positieve bijdrage leveren aan de promotie voor de stad. Ook wordt de stichting ondersteund door vele vrijwilligers.
