In consequence, a great number of young people from developing countries are lured to foreign countries where they often end up working under inhuman conditions. Many never return home. Everyone should have acces to a quality education and the opportunity to learn to read, write and gain mathematical problem-solving skills. Without these basic skills, getting a decent job or even starting a business are unobtainable dreams. Education is the first step into a virtuous circle and the second is creating job opportunities - we are committed to both. Employment allows people to contribute to the family household, the community and society in general. Likewise, financial stability makes it much easier for the next generation to attend school. All of this helps secure long-term economic growth and build a virtuous circle. We have a special approach to human aid work – an approach that builds on our strong commercial background. We ensure maximum impact for every crown invested. In fact, 100% of your donation goes directly to project work. This is possible because a group of Founding Fathers independently sponsors all of the administration costs of our projects. Our operations are effective and focus on results. Læseforeningen er en social frivillig forening, der arbejder i krydsfeltet mellem litteratur, mental sundhedsfremme og socialt udviklingsarbejde. Vores formål er at bringe litteraturen ud, hvor den gør gavn, og skabe stærke læsende fællesskaber for mennesker i alle livssituationer og på tværs af sociale lag. Vi har særligt fokus på at inddrage mennesker i udsatte livssituationer, og vi arbejder på tværs af samfundets sektorer for at etablere læsegrupper alle mulige steder, hvor mennesker kan mødes og kommer. Til det formål uddanner vi frivillige læseguider i metoden guidet fælleslæsning og opretter læsegrupper som skønlitterære åndehuller på tværs af landet i samarbejde mellem civilsamfund og offentlige og private aktører. Kernen i Læseforeningens arbejde er metoden Guidet Fælleslæsning. Metoden er udviklet med inspiration fra The Reader, UK, og bragt til Danmark af litteraturforsker Mette Steenberg. Mette Steenberg har på baggrund af egen forskning i metoden og i samarbejde med sociologen Helene Forsberg og en hårdtarbejdende bestyrelse taget initiativ til at opstarte og udvikle landsdækkende indsatser med guidet fælleslæsning samt oprette og drive et landsdækkende læseguideprogram med henblik på understøttelse og kvalitetssikring af indsatsen. Der er i dag etableret et profes-sionelt sekretariat med hovedsæde i Aarhus samt kontor i København, hvor ansatte medarbejdere driver og udvikler indsatsen. Aktuelt har Læseforeningen ca. 150 frivillige tilknyttet, som leverer godt 100 ugentlige læsegrupper, herunder flest i Region Hovedstaden, Region Midtjylland og i Odense. Indsatsen er finansieret af regionale og kommunale samarbejdsaftaler, hvor Læseforeningen leverer læsegrupper som en indsats på tværs af kultur, social og sundhed for specifikke sårbare og/eller udsatte målgrupper. Vores arbejde er desuden støttet af en række fonde, aktuelt af Velux Fonden, Spar Nord Fonden, Tryg Fonden, Det Obelske Familiefond, Tuborgfondet m.fl.
