ProColl is an synthetic biology company based in South Wales that manufactures recombinant collagen and other high-value proteins. Importantly the full chain and structure is retained improving performance and biocompatibility. In the past the founders could not find commercially available collagen that gave consistent results in their research and decided to fix the problem. Once solved, the technology was spun out of Swansea University’s College of Engineering in 2018 to build a business around the IP. We are backed by Swansea University, The Development Bank of Wales and Meltwind Advisory, closing a round that funds the company for more than four years in December 2020.
