Damit aufzuhören, fühlte sich so an, als würden wir einen wertvollen Teil von uns zurücklassen, und so beließen wir es dabei – bis zu jenem Moment, als elektronische Zigaretten aufkamen. Hinter ihrem Nebel verbarg sich eine technische Meisterleistung. Durch das Ersetzen der Verbrennung durch eine Aerosolisierung ließen sich bis zu 70 karzinogene Stoffe im Zigarettenrauch vermeiden. Plötzlich war es möglich, eine Zigarette zu kreieren, die den Zauber einer Tabakzigarette bewahrte und deutlich weniger invasiv ist.
