Motionpoems, Inc., is a nonprofit multimedia company based in Minneapolis that creates new platforms for art. We do this in two ways, through our regular filmmaking and through MōMōVA: The Moving Museum of Virtual Art. To produce films, Motionpoems partners with publishers and filmmakers to produce world-class original shorts using contemporary poems as scripts. 120+ films are currently available at motionpoems.com, written by Pulitzer winning and early career writers alike. FORBES says motionpoems are "astonishing, powerful, and hilarious."​ MōMōVA: The Moving Museum of Virtual Art is a pilot project funded by The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts, among others. MōMōVA turns any mass transit system into a museum of augmented-reality artworks using a GPS-triggered smartphone app. MōMōVA, slated to launch Winter 2019-2020 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, is available for activation on any mass transit system anywhere in the world. Contributing publishers include Copper Canyon Press, Milkweed Editions, Graywolf Press, The Poetry Foundation, Scribner's BEST AMERICAN POETRY, and many more. Poets have included Mark Strand, Richard Wilbur, Jane Hirshfield, Natalie Diaz, and dozens of others. Motionpoems's films are distributed free to subscribers online and shared on social networks. Annual premieres of new films have been hosted by The Walker Art Center, Anthology Film Archives in NY, The MSP Int'l Film Festival, and The MN Center for Book Arts at Open Book, and venues in London, Dublin, and Los Angeles, among others. Motionpoems is run by a Board of Directors and by Founding Executive and Artistic Director Todd Boss. The organization is supported by a mix of corporate, government, private foundation and individual contributions.
