Golden Seeds is an investment firm dedicated to pursuing market returns through the empowerment of women entrepreneurs and the people who invest in them. The group was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in New York City, with active chapters in Arizona, Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, New Jersey, and Silicon Valley – and active members throughout the country. Golden Seeds’ Angel Network has grown to become one of the largest in the country with around 280 members nationwide.
Since 2005, over 3200 companies have applied to Golden Seeds for funding. All companies are evaluated, many proceed through due diligence and receive extensive guidance from Golden Seeds investors. In total, Golden Seeds has invested over $170 million in nearly 235 companies through its angel network and its venture funds. The Middle East Childrens Institute (MECI) offers a transforming, comprehensive community development program that delivers positive change and hope to children and woman crippled by despair. MECI addresses the educational, psychological, health and basic human needs of the Middle Eastern children and woman living in war-torn and impoverished areas.
MECIs innovative, unique holistic community development model is transforming communities in the Middle East through a three-pillared approach: childrens education, womens empowerment, and economic development. MECIs comprehensive after school program for elementary school age children addresses severe health issues through a nourishing food program, builds skills through academic tutoring, and provides psychosocial support through art therapy program in music, fine arts, drama and athletics. In addition, local women are organized and employed through a womens association, the program also stimulates the distressed local economy through purchases from local farmers and suppliers.
Through MECI children and women are given a safe-space coping mechanisms to develop and thrive as well as tools towards building a strong future civil society and working towards peace.
