The Fire-fighters without Borders foundation is a non-profit organisation that has been recently established (2007) to provide training, second-hand equipment and training materials to fire brigades in developing countries. The second-hand equipment that we provide is not new but still has significant value for fire brigades in developing countries which often have to cope with the lack of essential equipment or have to work with equipment that is severely out-date and of poor quality. We are a organisation volunteers and we depend on donations from people and companies. We do not receive any government funding.

Internationally, improving Emergency Response Networks is increasingly recognized as an essential policy goal. Governments often search for international expertise and cooperation. SAR Systems helps the identification of emergency response objectives and priorities by defining appropriate methods and procedures. In close cooperation with our client, we search for ways to meet such objectives nationally, regionally or cross-border. Offering broad international experience and an extensive network of specialists, SAR Systems provides various services to private and public organizations. We have developed and implemented large scale emergency response projects in Sri Lanka, India, Argentina, Russia, Belgium and Turkey, covering early warning, emergency communication and coordination as well as response. These projects focus on strengthening governments, response agencies and communities, to enable them to prepare for disasters. Planning has no purpose unless it is accompanied by suitable responder training. As the complexity of an incident increases, it becomes more and more important for rescue teams to operate within a clearly defined and straightforward procedural framework. In cooperation with ICET, SAR Systems not only offers assistance in developing such procedures, but also offers custommade training.
