Julkisen sanan neuvosto (JSN) on tiedotusvälineiden kustantajien ja toimittajien vuonna 1968 perustama elin, jonka tehtävänä on tulkita hyvää journalistista tapaa ja puolustaa sanan- ja julkaisemisen vapautta. Kantelun voi neuvostolle tehdä kuka tahansa, jonka mielestä lehdistössä, radiossa tai televisiossa on loukattu hyvää journalistista tapaa. JSN ei ole tuomioistuin eikä se käytä julkista valtaa. Sen päätöksiä seurataan silti tarkoin. The Council for Mass Media (CMM) is a self-regulating committee established in 1968 by publishers and journalists in the field of mass communication. Its task is to interpret good professional practice and defend the freedom of speech and publication. Any person who considers that there has been a breach of good professional practice by media may bring this to the attention of the Council. CMM does not exercise legal jurisdiction.
