Like most iconic beginnings, The Luxury Closet has had a profound start. It all began with an Hermès Birkin handbag, and the rest, as we say, is history. Founded in 2012 in the bustling city of Dubai as a three-member team by our founder and CEO, Kunal Kapoor, The Luxury Closet is built on the firm foundation of circularity, authenticity, and excellent customer service. With thousands of unique designer products, global consignors, and buyers, we are one of the most trusted marketplaces for authentic luxury today.
A significant milestone in our journey was when two of the Kattan sisters, Huda and Mona, came aboard as investors in 2020. Known as the ‘queen of beauty,’ Huda Kattan is the founder of her eponymous cosmetic line Huda Beauty, and Mona Kattan is the Co-Founder and Global President of Huda Beauty and Kayali. Together, the Kattan sisters bring their creative intake and exceptional business expertise to the TLC family.
The Luxury Closet is paving its way to disrupt the world of luxury retail. Bain &Co estimates that there is $500 Billion worth of re-sellable luxury items in consumers closets, and nonetheless, each year consumers buy nearly $300B more of them.
