Para lograr esto, trabajamos con una fórmula que dice que: Si incrementa el uso de la bicicleta, dos cosas van a pasar. Primero, el automovilista va a estar consciente de que el ciclista existe, por lo tanto tendrá más cuidado cuando interactúe con él. Esto incrementa la sensación de seguridad, lo que invita a más gente a subirse a la bicicleta. Cuando aumenta la demanda, el segundo factor aparece, y es que los Gobiernos están más dispuestos a invertir infraestructura ciclista para hacerse cargo de esta demanda.
