Mercatus has officially rebranded to Charles River for Private Markets in order to simplify how we represent ourselves to our clients and the marketplace. Please Follow us @Charles River Development for further private markets updates This rebrand will streamline our conversations with prospective clients, especially those that are increasingly looking for holistic solutions across their public and private portfolios. If any of the challenges below sound familiar, Charles River for Private Markets is for you: ✔ We are too dependent on manual & error-prone processes to report our investment data. ✔ We cannot run rapid valuation & scenario analyses across our portfolio. ✔ We are overly reliant on Microsoft Excel. ✔ We can’t meet the growing transparency demands from our LPs. ✔ We can’t keep hiring more people as we raise more capital. ✔ Our existing systems are too rigid to meet our unique investment requirements. Founded in 2008, BootstrapLabs, an Ares company, is a leading Venture Capital firm based in Silicon Valley and focused on Applied Artificial Intelligence. BootstrapLabs was one of the first VC firms to build an AI-first investment strategy and seeks to invest in visionary founders who solve some of today’s most important and valuable opportunities by applying Artificial Intelligence. BootstrapLabs is often the first institutional money and acts as a lead investor in the early stages, with follow-on capital at the growth stages. Through our Venture Studios and Venture Capital funds, we are investing in Artificial Intelligence applied to The Future of Work (FoW)/Productivity, Mobility, Health, Financial Infrastructure, Digital Infrastructure, Energy/Climate, and AI-enabling technologies. As entrepreneurs ourselves, we know it takes an experienced team amplified by a nurturing community to build successful companies, so we stand by our founders in good times and bad times, because the road to success is paved with setbacks, challenges, and lessons learned from past failures – and building something big is hard. Ultimately we believe technology should always be used to create a positive impact on society, and that founders should always place fellow humans at the heart of their vision.

BFV is a venture capital and family office fund that works with innovators and entrepreneurs to address pain points in climate sensitive and resource limited markets in: 1. clean and efficient energy generation, infrastructure, and storage; 2. water treatment and conservation; 3. air quality; 4. food security and sustainable agriculture and 5. health care diagnostics and therapeutics. BFV’s investment strategy is based on the hypothesis that population growth up to a peak of 11 to 12 billion people (vs. 7+ billion currently) will place a tremendous burden on resource availability for a growing earth population having increasing amounts of discretionary spending capability. All nations must have access to energy, food, and water free from threat of shortages and with minimal impact on the environment. BFV defines the superordinate limitations in each market we address. BFV also applies both impactful and multidisciplinary technologies to transform the way people do things or think about things. The outcome is to realize potential for growth, crisis resilience, and strong returns. We believe that competently organized and executed multidisciplinary technologies are usually four times more likely to achieve disruptive outcomes by also changing the context, and the way we do things. An individual technology more often does not disrupt than does disrupt. When multidisciplinary technologies are combined, it is disruptive when the outcome results in new ways of making products, new businesses, or services.
