Blue Carbon es un proyecto innovador que lucha por proteger el mar, reducir las emisiones de CO2 y combatir el cambio climático. Tiene como misión impactar en la sociedad para concienciar y actuar en contra de la polución marina y la degradación del Mediterráneo. Desde Blue Carbon se pretende extender los valores Emisiones 0 y concienciar a la sociedad exponiendo los múltiples beneficios de la conservación del carbono azul, que es el carbono capturado por los ecosistemas costeros como la posidonia, almacenado en forma de biomasa, y retenido durante cientos o miles de años. La mayor parte del carbono azul se encuentra en la primera milla del litoral, que a su vez también es la localización más vulnerable. Hoy en día, un 80% de las praderas marinas catalanas han sido destruidas como consecuencia de la actividad humana y los últimos cambios experimentados en el planeta. Entre todos los beneficios que su conservación aporta, destaca el gran impacto en la economía azul, ya que conservar este tipo de carbono repercute en muchas industrias como la pesca, turismo, energías renovables, navegación comercial, navegación recreativa, etc...
