We are developing breakthrough consumer products that enable you to know what is in your food. For us, it's personal. We're on a mission to change the dining experience, forever. We believe anxiety is one thing that doesn't belong on your plate, and that food should be about enjoyment and community.
Our product, the Nima Sensor, is the world’s first portable sensor that tests food for gluten or peanuts in minutes. Nima’s award winning technology and antibody-based chemistry was developed by MIT scientists and is partially funded by the National Institute of Health. Peace of mind can now be carried in your pocket - order yours today at nimasensor.com.
Our Mission
A huge part of our lives center around food. However, we often don’t know what exactly is in our food. Our founders long struggled with food allergies and sensitivities and were tired of always getting sick and worrying if their food was safe. After meeting at MIT, they built a technology company to help alleviate the stress around eating, and set out to empower consumers by giving them a tool that detects hidden ingredients in their food.
Our Products
Nima is a discreet and portable sensor that allows consumers to test their food for gluten or peanuts directly at the table. The sensor also syncs to our app (iOS and Android) where our lively community members can share their food test results with others.
Acquisition:
Nima was acquired by a medical device company in 2020. Nima products should continue to be available for purchase on Amazon.

We help businesses find better suppliers to make their products.
Making products is painful. Finding reliable suppliers is hard, and it takes an average of 500 messages to source a product from start to finish. That’s why companies often end up stuck with high production costs and suboptimal suppliers.
We automate product sourcing by exposing the entire global manufacturing ecosystem through a single request. No more emails and phone calls: tell us what you want to make and we engage with thousands of suppliers on your behalf and find the right supplier for you. Cavela allows you to efficiently manufacture premium quality products at the most competitive cost — something typically only available to the largest brands.
Why businesses use Cavela:
• 35% Lower Production Costs
We negotiate on your behalf and get 3 times more quotes than typical sourcing agents, resulting in 35% lower production costs on average.
• All-in-one
Supplier matching. Quote compilation. Sample production. Quality assurance. Order delivery. Fully automated and handled for you.
• 24/7 Operations
Day or night, our automated agents work with suppliers around the clock on your behalf, no matter the time zone.
• Private Global Network
The world’s largest private network of manufacturers worldwide — from China to the US, Vietnam to Mexico, and for every product category.

We are a world-class interdisciplinary educational, service and research organization dedicated to improving health and reducing the burden of disease in the worlds most vulnerable populations. We integrate UCSF expertise in the health, social, and biological sciences, and focus that expertise on training global health leaders of tomorrow and developing solutions to today’s most pressing health challenges.
Founded as Global Health Sciences in 2003 by Haile Debas, MD, IGHS underscores UCSF’s commitment to global health and to the care of vulnerable populations at home and throughout the world. We rebranded to the Institute for Global Health Sciences in 2017.
At IGHS, we think big, pursuing bold and high-risk visions—malaria elimination, a cure for HIV—the sorts of problems that require broad, transdisciplinary contributions to achieve a better future. In addition, our faculty, staff and students are on the cutting edge of research, treatment, public health practice and policy development for tuberculosis, maternal and newborn child health, reproductive health, and other conditions that have a devastating impact on vulnerable populations both globally and locally.
We also work in California and around the world to train global health leaders, help governments and organizations improve their health systems, and build sustainable solutions to improve health and eliminate disease.
The African proverb “if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together” applies very well to what we want to accomplish. We partner with academic centers, international organizations, ministries of health, private industries and others in more than 50 countries. Our goal: to effectively deliver UCSF’s promise of advancing health worldwide.
