A lack of diversity within the medical field is a pressing issue. At The Armitage Foundation we bring schools, universities, healthcare trusts, and other organisations committed to social mobility and improving diversity together to make sustained impact. We believe that the only way to achieve lasting change is to work with young people before they make decisions that could impact their future potential. Through our 6-year series of educational outreach programmes, we aim to inspire, equip and empower young people from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in medicine. After launching pilots in London in 2020/21, our programmes expanded to Kent in 21/22. In the next academic year we hope to reach more areas, including Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Manchester.
