GRADIS offers a complex lighting solution, which supports both the design phase and dynamically controlled operation.
It is a unique offer for the outdoor lighting market, aimed at saving energy, reducing CO2 emissions and assuring compliance with existing lighting standards.
Our mission is to help cities all over the World improve the efficiency of street lighting. Real savings in lighting costs, better road traffic security and fight against light pollution and risks to the envirohment – that is the GRADIS way to make this world a better place for everyone.
Why would you be interested in GRADIS?
1. We have a complete, working software solution, the eponymous GRADIS application, for outdoor lighting.
2. We can deliver significant savings in street lighting operation (up to 71%) and investments costs for utilities and municipalities.
3. Our approach has benefits for the environment (decrease of CO2 emissions and light pollution) and for the citizens (increased comfort and security).
4. We offer an additional edge for fixture/lamp vendors and infrastructure designers.
5. We received numerous awards at industry events, including the European Start-up Days 2017, The KIC Business Booster 2015 and we were one of three start-ups invited by EPRI/KEPCO to represent Europe at BIXPO 2016.
GRADIS – state of the art software employs sophisticated artificial intelligence algorithms to improve efficiency of street and road lighting in four aspects: 1) energy consumption, 2) environmental protection, 3) health risks, 4) citizen safety. In all of these, GRADIS achieves breakthrough results, reducing the investment costs by 7–10% and substantially lowering the designers’ workload (from 5 man weeks to 6 hours of computer processing time).
Energy savings – lighting infrastructure designs produced by the GRAIDS application are significantly more energy-efficient than those obtained using traditional methods. Our theoretical calculations were proved in real-life projects, with savings of up to 30% through more precise photometric calculations and an extra 14% gained by dynamically dimming using a real-time decision system when traffic intensity (measured by sensors) decreases.
Enviroment – the GRADIS application substantially CO2 emissions caused by city lighting, with total savings in LED retrofit projects of up to 70%. That accounts for significant savings in the scale of an entire city. For instance, a project involving replacement of 20,000 lamps in Copenhagen reduced the city emissions by about 20%. Had the design been prepared using the GRADIS application, that number would grow to 27%, and further up to 36% if our module was used for dynamic control of the lamps – without the need for extra investments.
Health – the GRADIS application also reduces light pollution. Lower light intensity has less negative impact on our melatonin daily cycle, helping us achieve better and deeper sleep and aiding the natural regenerative processes of our organisms.
Citizen safety – in emergency or dangerous situations, such as mass events, city authorities may use the GRADIS application to increase lighting intensity in specific locations to make them more secure. In spots with very low traffic intensity, GRADIS design schemes can put extra emphasis on risky areas such as pedestrian crossings.
