Food Forward fights hunger and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people experiencing food insecurity, and inspiring others to do the same. How We Do It We collect fresh fruits and vegetables that would normally go to waste from backyard fruit trees, public orchards, farmers markets, and the downtown Los Angeles Wholesale Produce Market. 100% of the produce we recover is donated to hunger relief agencies across eight counties in Southern California. Why We Do It According to the NRDC, up to 40% of food in the United States is wasted. At the same time, one in nine Californians lacks adequate access to food. Food Forward presents a simple solution to this disparity by connecting surplus fresh fruits and vegetables with people experiencing food insecurity in our communities.

We pioneer solutions to address global homelessness and imagine a world where no human lives in survival mode. Donors see exactly who needs help, give knowing that 100% of their donation goes to the field, and receive a video of the family they helped in their new home.

Venture capitalists are committed to funding America’s most innovative entrepreneurs, working closely with them to transform breakthrough ideas into emerging growth companies that drive U.S. job creation and economic growth. As the voice of the U.S. venture capital community, the National Venture Capital Association empowers its members and the entrepreneurs they fund by advocating for policies that encourage innovation and reward long-term investment. The NVCA also serves as the definitive resource for venture capital data and unites its members through a full range of professional services.

We provide resources for community members and organizations to make Santa Cruz County a place for all to thrive, now and in the future. We connect with donors, professional advisors and nonprofit leaders to provide them with the resources and tools they need. In 2024, the Foundation awarded $23 million in grants to local nonprofits. In 2010, we opened the Jack & Peggy Baskin Center for Philanthropy in Aptos, which received Gold Level LEED certification for the U.S. Green Building Council.

Benetech believes that equitable access to education is a human right. Our technology and services break down systemic barriers and empower all learners regardless of ability. Around the world, we partner with local communities to expand inclusive and equitable education opportunities. To date we have delivered more than 20 million accessible books helping over 1.5 million students, jobseekers, and adults to read, learn, and pursue their dreams.

Venture Forward, NVCA’s 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm, is on a mission to democratize access to the venture capital (VC) industry, empower individuals from all backgrounds and geographies to thrive as investors, and equip future VC leaders with the tools for long-term success. We support emerging fund managers and investors by providing education, mentorship, and resources to advance their careers. We are committed to driving healthy and sustainable generational change within established VC firms, ensuring strong industry stewardship for the future.
