Sal. Oppenheim wurde 1789 gegründet und war eine der führenden Privatbanken in Deutschland. Im Jahr 2019 haben die zuständigen Gremien der beiden Gesellschaften Deutsche Oppenheim Family Office AG (Deutsche Oppenheim) und Sal. Oppenheim jr. & Cie. AG & Co. KGaA (SOP) haben entschieden, die Deutsche Oppenheim wirtschaftlich rückwirkend zum 1. Januar 2019 auf die SOP zu verschmelzen. Die fusionierte Gesellschaft wird unter dem Namen Deutsche Oppenheim Family Office AG firmieren und ihren Sitz in Köln haben. Sal. Oppenheim wird als eine Marke der Deutsche Oppenheim fortgeführt. Der aktive Geschäftsbetrieb in der Vermögensverwaltung/-beratung des Bankhauses Sal. Oppenheim wurde zum 30. Juni 2018 eingestellt. Seit dem 1. Juli 2018 werden die Nicht-Kern-Geschäftstätigkeiten in der rechtlichen Einheit SOP fortgeführt, die nun unter dem neuen Namen Deutsche Oppenheim Family Office AG firmiert.
